Tom Price is currently the Darwin Regional Manager with the Northern Territory Government Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security’s Weed Management Branch. Tom has worked over 14 years organising and conducting site and landscape-scale weed control operations, surveys and trial work on a variety of terrestrial and aquatic weed species across the Top End of the NT. Since Siam weed’s discovery on a remote Western Top End cattle station in 2019, Tom has led the on-ground survey, extension and control operations to delineate and best manage the weed across a vast landscape with sparse population. Tom’s presentation outlines the NT’s initial Siam weed emergency response and the successive operations, trials and decisions made that have led to the containment program now in place.
