Synopsis
Wood’s Homes has been committed to Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) for the past decade. In January 2024, the organisation shifted its TCI recertification approach from a standard one-day session to a more dynamic "Theory to Practice" (T2P) model. This new approach offers multiple 1.5-hour targeted sessions on topics such as Dynamic Risk Assessment, TCI and Indigenous Culture, working with youth displaying problematic sexual behaviours, and TCI and Neurodiversity. The strategy also emphasises program-specific sessions tailored to staff and client needs. Despite some initial challenges, this model has enhanced staff engagement and training outcomes, with promising progress anticipated into 2025.
