Biotherapeutics are becoming increasingly available in Australia and internationally. Pharmacists are uniquely placed to provide patients with education regarding biotherapeutics to encourage their safe and effective use, minimise medication errors and avoid preventable adverse effects. This session will provide pharmacists with the knowledge needed to talk to patients about biotherapeutics.
Learning objectives
• Develop an awareness of the current use of biotherapeutics in Australia and internationally
• Effectively counsel patients on the use of biotherapeutics
• Understand the complexities of care that can arise when a patient is being treated with biotherapeutics.
