Pharmacists have been recognised as the critical health care professional in primary care to support parents with early-life nutrition. However, studies also show that pharmacists are not confident in understanding the role of nutrition first to support in infants with allergy, constipation and reflux.
This session will discuss current evidence regarding the role of the microbiome and the impact on allergy and gastrointestinal conditions in infants and early-life nutrition. It will also examine the nutrition first approach to treatment based on the evidence to clarify and align the recommended nutrition to the condition.
Learning objectives:
• Discuss the current evidence regarding the role of the microbiome and the impact on allergy and gastrointestinal conditions in infants and early life nutrition
• Understand the nutrition first approach to align evidence with condition
• Recommend appropriate treatment, support, recommendation and referral for allergy and gastrointestinal conditions related to early life nutrition
