The Health Service Delivery sessions are designed to support pharmacists successfully implement a professional service within their practice. The session aims to support pharmacists understand the evidence, use and role of point of care testing in disease state management.
Learning objectives:
• Discuss the role of POCT in screening, risk assessment and disease state management
• Discuss the pharmacy business model to ensure viability of POCT
• Discuss the pharmacist’s role with regard to POCT in different practice settings
• Discuss the importance of open communication and collaboration with other health care professionals
• Discuss the requirement for patient education regarding POC testing
• Describe the various POCT that falls within a pharmacist’s scope of practice
• Develop a system to communicate results and follow up
• Understand the accreditation requirements for the provision of POCT
