Details
Mental health is integral to the wellbeing of young people and experiences of mental illness can have profound impacts on their lives. This session will support pharmacists in delivering a professional mental health service in a community setting. The session will expand on previous clinical and professional service knowledge to assist pharmacists to deliver a successful health service in their workplace.
Learning objectives
•Recognise innovative roles pharmacists can play in the delivery of mental health care in the community (e.g. screening, risk assessment, case conferencing, health promotion campaigns)
•Describe barriers to and facilitators of the implementation of mental health services within community pharmacy e.g. stigma, remuneration, community awareness, organisational culture
•Describe appropriate referral pathways to mental health services and health professionals
•Develop effective strategies to reduce mental health stigma
•Develop effective communication skills for enhanced patient mental health care
