The complementary medicine area is continuing to grow and consumers are increasingly seeking information and guidance on the quality use of complementary or integrative medicines. A fear of causing harm to customers creates a barrier to providing such care. This session will provide an evidence-based framework to provide pharmacists with the support to overcome this fear and enable them to work safely, confidently and competently. It will support the understanding of how integrative medicines can be a safe and effective component of prevention, treatment and management plans. This Health Service Delivery workshop will support pharmacists in delivering an integrative medicine service in a community setting. Learning Objectives: • List the steps involved in case taking using the integrative medicine framework • Develop an integrative plan for the management of common conditions • Counsel consumers on the safe and effective use of complementary medicines for a range of clinical conditions • Apply the prescribing indications for key complementary medicines to case examples Competencies addressed: • 2016 – 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.3.1, 1.3.4, 1.4.1, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.5.3, 1.5.4, 1.6.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3, 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.2.1, 3.2.4, 3.2.5, 3.3.1, 3.6.1, 3.6.2, 3.6.3, 4.1.1, 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3, 4.3.4, 4.4.1, 4.4.2, 4.4.3, 4.4.4, 4.4.5, 4.5.2, 4.5.3, 4.7.3, 4.7.5, 5.1.3. • 2010 – 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.4, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.t4.1, 1.5.1, 2.1.3, 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 2.5.1, 2.5.2, 2.6.3, 3.1.1, 3.1.3, 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 3.4.1, 3.4.2, 3.4.3, 3.5.1, 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.3.2, 4.3.3, 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.5, 6.3.1, 6.3.2, 6.3.3, 7.1.1.
