David Cowan has been a member of Victoria Police for 33 years and is Detective Superintendent in charge of organised crime. He is the President of the Australia and New Zealand Society of Evidence Based Policing which has over 4000 members. He is advocate for bridging the gap between academia and policing and is currently running field trials relation to police legitimacy, serious public violence and place-based crime prevention. He has recently completed a Churchill Fellowship investigating EBP globally where he interviewed 80 people including senior police, academics and policy makers.
