Demand has never been higher for the increased use of evidence to inform policymaking and programmatic decision-making. At the same time, the collection and analysis of data for impact evaluation is expensive, constraining what we can learn. What's the solution?

Biography

Dr. Wood is Integra's Director of Measuring Impact. He has led and quality assured evaluations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He works on monitoring and evaluation projects for USAID, MCC, and NGOs. He also provides inputs and co-designs evaluations for other funders and implementers. His main research topic areas include food security, agricultural commercialization, and research transparency. Benjamin holds a PhD in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His dissertation examined the effects of food price increases on health in Malawi and on poverty in Mexico.

Biography

Lorena coordinates the Evaluation Unit at SINERGIA, the system of monitoring and evaluation of public policies from the governmet of Colombia. She has worked at SINERGIA for the last three years designing and implementing impact evaluations in a wide range of topics such as social policy, regional investment and healthcare. In her current position she supervises evaluations conducted by consultancy firms, being engaged in producing high quality evaluations and diseminating them among policy makers and academic researchers. Prior to holding this position, Lorena worked as a consultant for the government of Colombia, implementing evaluations of policies in education and innovation. Lorena holds a Master in Economics from the Universiy of Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia and a Master in Public Policy from Toulouse School of Economics in France.

Biography

Neeta manages 3ie’s portfolio of WASH impact evaluation grants. She is also actively engaged in 3ie’s research transparency initiatives, such as contributing to the development of 3ie’s Research Transparency policy, managing 3ie’s impact evaluation registry (RIDIE), and providing oversight to the verification of 3ie’s impact evaluation data. Over the past two decades, Neeta has been engaged in the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions focusing on disadvantaged populations. Her interest in evidence-based policies and programmes is grounded in these field experiences. Prior to 3ie, Neeta worked in several national and international NGOs. Neeta holds a Ph.D. in Childhood Studies from Rutgers University.

Biography

Romina Cavatassi is a Senior natural resource economist with the Research and Impact Assessment (RIA) division in the Strategy and Knowledge Department of IFAD. Her areas of expertise are impact evaluation of projects and programmes, survey design and data collection. Prior to joining IFAD, Romina worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations where she focused on development and natural resource economics. Over the last few years she worked on Climate Smart Agriculture and earlier on agrobiodiversity. She holds a PhD in Natural Resources and Development Economics from the Wageningen University in the Netherlands, a Master of Science in Environmental Assessment and Evaluation from the London School of Economics in the UK and a Master level degree in Economics from the University of Bologna, Italy.
