Abstract

Biography

Dr Elisha Riggs is co-leader of the Refugee and Migrant Research Program in the Healthy Mothers Healthy Families research group at MCRI and Honorary Research Fellow at the Department of General Practice, The University of Melbourne. Elisha is a public health and health services researcher whose work focuses on reducing disparities in maternal and child health outcomes for socially disadvantaged communities. She currently leads a series of projects in partnership with the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture (Foundation House), including two studies funded by the NHMRC. Her research is at the forefront of healthcare system redesign and innovation using participatory methods to facilitate community and service engagement. She is Lead Investigator for the Group Pregnancy Care Study and Co-investigator for the Bridging the Gap Study and Childhood Resilience Study.
