Are we on track to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals? The development community and governments have agreed on over 230 indicators to track progress. But to monitor the targets, we need to build capacity—at all levels in countries.

Biography
Sara Savastano is the Director of Research and Impact Assessment (RIA) Division of the Strategy and Knowledge Department at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Prior to her current appointment, she was Senior Economist at the World Bank with the Development Economic Group.
From 2008 to 2016 Sara was Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Before the University she served as an Economist at the Public Investment Evaluation Unit of the Italian Ministry of Finance.
She is secretary general of ICABR, the International Consortium on Applied Bioeconomy Research. Her research focuses on land policies and institutions, rural development, agriculture efficiency and productivity, technology adoption. She has been consultant to FAO, World Bank, IFPRI, and other public and private institutions.
She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Biography
Dr. Riff Fullan has been supporting collaboration, knowledge sharing and learning in the development sector for over 20 years. With the Bellanet Secretariat of Canada’s International Development Research Centre (1996-2006) Riff focused on facilitation, evolution and strengthening of global and regional multistakeholder networks and communities. Riff has been an active member of the global Knowledge Management for Development (KM4Dev) community, having served on its Core Group from its inception in 2004 to 2017. Riff is also a member of the peer reviewed KM4D Journal’s Editorial Board. Since joining Helvetas in 2006, Riff has been exploring the implications of working in complex contexts: how can we better understand and work in such contexts, how can we ensure our activities contribute to positive development outcomes despite high levels of uncertainty?
