Biography

As Principal Economist at FHI 360, Annette N. Brown, PhD leads efforts to promote FHI 360 thought leadership, especially in research and evaluation, and build an organizational culture of evidence generation and use, across all sectors and regions. She also serves as editor-in-chief for the R&E Search for Evidence blog. Prior to joining FHI 360, Dr. Brown headed the Washington, DC office of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) and served on its executive team. In that role, she oversaw a variety of programs, including the organization’s HIV and AIDS impact evaluation grants windows and its research transparency initiatives. Earlier in her career, Dr. Brown worked at both for-profit and not-for-profit development implementers in roles that involved research, strategy, program management, business development, technical assistance, and measurement and evaluation. She was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Western Michigan University, and has held research positions at the World Bank and the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics. Dr. Brown is the author or co-author of several articles that have been published in social science and public health journals. She has a doctorate in economics from the University of Michigan.

Biography

Kate Sutton is co-founder and Director of Humanitarian Advisory Group - a social enterprise that leads in ethical research and technical support on humanitarian issues for the region. She has over 20 years experience in the sector with a passion for areas including humanitarian protection, women in leadership and localisation of aid. Kate co-leads on HAG’s current research program, Humanitarian Horizons, that explores new ways to localise the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Biography

Pauline Dixon is the Executive Manager of Family Services at Wanslea. She has over 29 years of experience working with families experiencing vulnerability and their children. She is committed to using the evidence from research to inform work with parents in building on their strengths and increasing their family well-being. She is passionate about building the capacity of professionals working with families and has recently been involved in the co-production and implementation of an evidence based practice framework for working with families experiencing vulnerability and their children. She has also been involved in a number of initiatives including the roll out of the National Healthy Start Strategy in Australia for Parents with Learning Difficulties and the development of services to Children of Parents with Mental Illness.

Biography

As a Research and Evaluation Associate (and Research Project Manager) at Penn State University Kyle Hawkey leads a team of professionals (bachelor's level staff - PhD level staff) dedicated to bolstering military family readiness, resilience, and well-being. Although different in scope, each of the 14 federally-funded projects that he oversees allows him and his team to work with the U.S. Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) in order to assist the U.S. Air Force in: (1) development, application, and implementation of medical policy; (2) research and evaluation to address healthcare resourcing and operations; and (3) providing medical resources, coordinating best practices, analyzing data, and providing clinical expertise for efficient patient-centered healthcare. He is also an Associate Professor of Psychology and Family Studies for Arizona Western College. In this role, he develops and teaches a variety of courses within the Social Sciences.
