Panellists will provide evidence-informed pointers for future CDD policies, programs, practice and research.

Biography

Neeta manages 3ie’s portfolio of WASH impact evaluation grants. She is also actively engaged in 3ie’s research transparency initiatives, such as contributing to the development of 3ie’s Research Transparency policy, managing 3ie’s impact evaluation registry (RIDIE), and providing oversight to the verification of 3ie’s impact evaluation data. Over the past two decades, Neeta has been engaged in the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions focusing on disadvantaged populations. Her interest in evidence-based policies and programmes is grounded in these field experiences. Prior to 3ie, Neeta worked in several national and international NGOs. Neeta holds a Ph.D. in Childhood Studies from Rutgers University.
Ms Susan Wong

Biography

Susan Wong is the World Bank’s Global Lead for Community-Driven Development (CDD), and Acting Global Lead for Social Sustainability and Standards. She has led and worked on some of the largest CDD and local government programs in the world including in Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, India, Afghanistan, and Morocco. Her specialties are in the areas of: monitoring and evaluation, CDD and local governance, social risk management, and operations. Susan has published on topics related to community-driven development, monitoring and evaluation, and political economy, and led one of the largest randomized impact evaluations in the world from 2007-2010 in Indonesia. Susan joined the World Bank in 2002 and has served as Social Development Sector Manager, Social Development Sector Coordinator in Indonesia, and Lead Specialist. Prior to joining the institution, she worked on development programs for the United States Agency for International Development, US Department of State, United Nations Development Program, and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She has worked with several multilateral agencies, non-governmental organizations and academic research institutions in the U.S., Africa and Asia over the past 30 years.

Biography

Howard is Chief Executive Officer of the Campbell Collaboration. Previously he was the founding Executive Director of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) and before that led the impact evaluation programme of the World Bank's Independent Evaluation Group. He started his career as an academic researcher at the Institute of Social Studies in the Hague, and the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex. As an academic he leans toward work with policy relevance, and working in the policy field leans toward academic rigour as a basis for policy and practice. His other interests are running and walking, preferably long distances in remote places, and reading English history.

Biography

Aniceto C. Orbeta, Jr. is Senior Research Fellow at the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. His research interests include education and labor market issues, impact evaluation, applied economic modeling and information and communication technologies. He did post-doctoral studies at Harvard University and a Ph.D. in economics at the School of Economics, University of the Philippines. He served as consultant to ADB, the Worldbank, ILO, MCC and as principal investigator for the Innovations for Poverty Action.

Biography

Lauren Kelly is a Senior Rural Development and Evaluation Specialist with the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank. She has spent the equivalent of five of her fifteen years at the World Bank conducting qualitative and participatory evaluation in rural project areas. She has utilized social science research methods in evaluation to assess qualitative aspects of the Bank’s Community Driven Development, Environment, Agriculture and Food Security operations, often in fragile and conflict affected areas. She has led major evaluations of the Bank’s support for Sustainable Forest Management and the Rural Non-Farm Economy, that have had implications for World Bank policies and operations. She is the author of various publications on rural development policy, resource governance, conflict and fragility, and lectures on these topics at various Washington DC based universities.
