Biography
Dr. Daniel F. Perkins is the Principal Scientist and Founder of the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness. He is a Professor of Family and Youth Resiliency and Policy at the Pennsylvania State University. He serves as a Principal Investigator for the Children, Youth, and Families At-Risk Professional Development and Technical Assistance Center. He is an appointed member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Committee on the Well-Being of Military Families.
Dr. Perkins received a Ph.D. in Family and Child Ecology from Michigan State University. His work has involved teaching, research, and outreach through Penn State Extension with a focus on healthy family development, implementation science, resiliency and the prevention of problem behaviors in youth, and community collaboration (PROSPER). Through the development of the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness, he has facilitated the use of comprehensive evidence-informed programs and technical assistance to professionals working with military families, which has earned a W.K. Kellogg Community Engagement Award. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and his work has been funded by the government, universities, and foundations such as the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Wallace Foundation, United States Department of Agriculture, and Department of Defense.
